Why returnable beats single-trip on multi-site programs
For closed-loop electronics programs — milk-run logistics between OEM and supplier, or returnable pallets between two of your own plants — foldable ESD boxes pay back in 5-8 trips. Single-trip conductive corrugated boxes cost roughly $4-$10 each; foldable boxes cost $30-$80 but make 50-100+ trips before retirement.
The real saving is return freight. Empty foldable boxes ship 5× more units per truck than rigid ESD containers, because they collapse to ~20% volume when knocked down.
Material and ESD performance
Anti-static PP corrugated (also called hollow-board PP or twin-wall PP) — surface resistance 10⁶-10⁹ Ω/sq, fully dissipative, carbon-loaded so the rating is permanent and does not wash out.
Wall structure: twin-wall corrugated PP runs 3-5 mm thick — stiff enough for full-pallet stacking yet flexible enough to fold flat. The fold creases are heat-shaped at the factory, not just scored, so the box does not crack at the fold after hundreds of cycles.
Standard pallet footprints
1200 × 1000 mm — full ISO pallet footprint, fits North American and international closed-loop programs. Heights 400, 600, 800 mm.
1200 × 800 mm — full Euro pallet footprint, common in Europe-North America trade and in Mexico maquila programs. Heights 400, 600, 800 mm.
600 × 400 mm — half Euro, fits as a 1×4 grid on a 1200×800 pallet. Heights 175, 220, 280 mm — useful for sub-assembly returnable totes.
All boxes ship with hinged or detachable lids and standard interlocking foot detail for 4-corner stacking.
Custom features
Internal dividers (corrugated PP partitions) — segregates components into compartments, optional for parts-bin-style use.
Foam inserts (anti-static EPE / EPP) — for fragile sub-assemblies where corrugated alone is not enough.
RFID / barcode pockets molded into the side wall — for closed-loop tracking on returnable programs.
Printed branding and customer-specific markings — 1-color or 2-color screen print, MOQ 100 boxes per design.
Custom sizes (non-pallet footprints) — quoted on 8-week lead time with tooling NRE.
