Why lidded ESD boxes (versus open totes)
Three reasons buyers move from open ESD totes to lidded ESD storage boxes: dust exclusion in long-term inventory, stack rigidity (lids carry load from above without crushing parts inside), and theft / mix-up protection in shared stockrooms.
For ESD-sensitive components, dust matters more than people think — fine particulate dropping into an IC tray over months in storage creates a contact-resistance failure mode that does not show up at incoming inspection. A dust-tight lid is cheap insurance.
Stack ratings in practice
Our stackable ESD storage box family is rated for 5 boxes high under full load (typical 15-25 kg per box, so a 5-high stack puts ~100 kg static load on the bottom bin lid).
Important: stack rating is measured with the load centered, on a flat hard floor, at room temperature. If you stack on a rack shelf, the rack-shelf flex absorbs some load — actual safe stack heights on flexible shelving drop to 3-4 boxes high. We can spec ribbed-lid variants if your warehouse runs heavy on the top boxes.
Stocked sizes
15 liter — for small ICs, reels, sub-assemblies. 400 × 300 × 150 mm.
28 liter — most-ordered general-purpose size for kitting and WIP. 400 × 300 × 280 mm.
45 liter — for PCB sub-assemblies and larger modules. 600 × 400 × 220 mm.
70 liter — for finished electronic modules and bulk parts. 600 × 400 × 325 mm.
All sizes black (default), with optional blue / red / yellow dissipative colors for 5S zoning. Custom colors and printed labels available with 500-piece MOQ.
Permanent vs topical anti-static
Tyson Supply Chain stackable ESD storage boxes use carbon-loaded permanent dissipative PP. This means the anti-static performance is built into the polymer matrix and does not wash off, age out, or fail at low humidity.
Topical anti-static sprays and coated boxes (sometimes sold cheaply on Amazon as "ESD storage") lose effectiveness within 6-12 months and are not compliant with ANSI/ESD S20.20 for an ESD Protected Area (EPA). If you are auditing to S20.20, insist on permanent dissipative.
